John preaches on the power that your words have from Matthew 12:33-37.
Our words are important because they affect others, they affect us and they affect the world around us.
Our words can have power in the physical realm because words in Hebrew represent the reality they describe.
When Jesus talked about careless words in this passage he means useless or unproductive words. Jesus wants us to be a steward of our words and not just bury them in the ground but use them to God’s glory.
For example we need to confess Jesus as Lord as part of our salvation and in the same way we need to thank and praise God with our words.
We can start by only saying about ourselves what God would say about us.
Lastly we have the means of healing in our words by speaking the word of healing and blessing as we are led by God.
